Officer Duties


1) President:

• Supervise the affairs of the chapter
• Preside and enforce decorum at all meetings of the chapter
• Serve as the face of the chapter when interfacing with other organizations
• Complete the annual chapter report
• Attend the national student leadership conference during their term or appoint a representative instead if unable to attend
• Monthly meeting with chapter advisor


2) Vice President:

• Oversee the tutoring, fund-raising, events and recruiting committee
• Oversee any other committee chairs without an overseeing officer
• Complete the annual chapter report
• Attend SGA budget meetings
• Attend the national student leadership conference during their term or appoint a representative instead if unable to attend
• Monthly meeting with chapter advisor

3) Treasurer:

• Collect dues
• Manage all Chapter funds and accounts in accordance with policies of WSU
• Submit monthly reports about the activities
• Attend SGA budget meetings
• Monthly meeting with chapter advisor

4) Recording Secretary:

• Keep record of all meetings of the Chapter
• Disseminate the meeting minutes within 24 hours of the meeting
• Issue notices of all special meetings of the Chapter
• Keep a record of the current active member

5) Event Secretary:

• Keep record of all events of the Chapter
• Disseminate the event minutes within 24 hours of the event

6) Corresponding secretary

• Coordinate for all correspondence of the Chapter, except that related to the offices of the Treasurer and Events Director
• Submit reports of the Chapter's activities to IEEE-HKN
• Complete the annual chapter report
• Perform any duties related to THE BRIDGE and IEEE-HKN website
• Handle any publicity for the Chapter
• Correspond with the WSU Electrical and Computer Engineering Department
• Correspond with any WSU media
• Submit monthly reports about the activities
• Monthly meeting with chapter advisor

7) Director – recruitment

• Submit all new member information to Eta Kappa Nu Nationals
• Chair the Initiation Committee
• Submit monthly reports about the activities

8) Director – Outreach

• Organize and coordinate outreach events

• USD 259 - school district
• College of Engineering

• Submit monthly reports about the activities

9) Director – HKN - Go Baby Go

• Coordinate with WSU GoBabyGo program
• Submit monthly reports about the activities

10) Director – Faculty Events

• Organize faculty related events

• Workshop (twice a semester)
• Brown bag lunch (twice a semester)

• Submit monthly reports about the activities

11) Director – Awards

• Plan fall and spring awards ceremony

• Event
• Selection process

• Submit monthly reports about the activities

12) Director – Tutoring

• Coordinating and availability at the tutoring sessions every week
• Must be familiar with most of EE and CS courses
• Submit monthly reports about the activities

13) Director – Media

• Maintain our Chapters Web page and its social media accounts. An understanding of basic HTML would be great but not a necessity.
• Updating the web page and social networks as required
• Designing of flyers and posters when required
• Submit monthly reports about the activities

14) Director - Graduate Events

• Organize events for graduate students.
• Promote HKN awards among graduate students.
