Modeling and Analysis of Discrete Systems (IME 865)
Students will develop a basic understanding of analytical and experimental techniques for the modeling and analysis of discrete systems with an emphasis in manufacturing systems. Students will be introduced to techniques such as discrete event simulation, Markov Chains, and queuing models to model and analyze manufacturing and service systems. The emphasis of the course is on the utilization of simulation. They will investigate issues in this subject area through readings, lectures, homework and a final project.
Prerequisites: IME 553 and IME 724
