We currently offer four Concentrations:

  • Analytic Reasoning
  • Ethics
  • Pre-Law 
  • World Philosophy  

We also provide a robust education in history of philosophy, Asian philosophy, and philosophy of STEM.

Professor Boyle

Professor Deborah Boyle (College of Charleston) will be the Philosophy Department's 2023 Distinguished Lecturer in the History of Philosophy. Boyle's first lecture (title TBA) will take place Thursday, March 23, at 1:00pm in Lindquist Hall Room 100. The second lecture (title TBA) will take place Friday, March 24, at 1:00pm in Lindquist Hall Room 100. Both talks are free and open to the public

Come as you are for an afternoon of resilience and food! Attendees will have the chance to listen to Dr. Kabagarama speak on the topic of resilience, incorporating her early life experience in Uganda, migration to the United States in 1982, and career as a professor, minister, storyteller, poet, author, and motivational speaker. Friday, February 10, 1pm-3:30pm at the CAC Theater. The talk is free and open to the public.

Professor James Schwartz is the lead editor of a new Oxford University Press volume, "Reclaiming Space: Progressive and Multicultural Visions of Space Exploration," which platforms marginalized and underrepresented perspectives on space exploration. The volume will appear in late March and is available for pre-order.
