We want students to have a clearer understanding of what skills they are developing by taking specific classes as a liberal arts and sciences major. Academic advisors will assist students with understanding the competencies and selecting courses that will help them meet the requirements.
The new plan only applies to liberal arts and sciences students who enter under the 2024-2025 catalog and later.
You should be able to satisfy competency requirements by using classes you are already taking to satisfy major and general education requirements.
Yes. However, transfer students entering Wichita State in the fall 2024 semester may come in with equivalent courses that satisfy competency requirements. Working closely with an academic advisor will minimize additional coursework.
