Marketing and sales intern at Youthville
What are some of your duties and responsibilities?
My responsibilities at my Co-op varied day to day. I got lucky enough to get the
opportunity to work with many of the employees in the marketing department. Some days
I would help the graphic designer take photos, edit them, format page layouts and
learn all about typography while other days I got to work with the copy writer and
editor to develop stories for certain publications.
What is your favorite part about Youthville?
My favorite part of working at Youthville was getting the chance to see how a professional
marketing department functions and what a real-life public relations situation entails.
I also liked that I wasn't treated like an intern. From my very first day, they treated
me as another team member.
How does your internship directly tie with your emphasis area?
My internship directly tied with my emphasis area because I was always finding ways
that I could use my skills from class in the work setting and vice versa. I would
learn the details of how to write a proper press release in class and then go to work
at get the opportunity to write one. I found myself constantly using the knowledge
from class at my internship.
Would you recommend Co-op to other students?
I would absolutely recommend Co-op for other students. It’s a great way to learn
about the field you’re interested in and what you might specifically want to do after
graduation.
