Exhibition Statement
Nancy Steele-Makasci creates stark black and white images that interpret the duality of universal human themes such as life/death, male/female, good/evil, power/weakness and vocal/silent. She states, “Death, sadness, silence and resignation are recurring themes within my work.” The artist earned an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, as well as an MA in Art and a BA in Art Education from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Nancy exhibits her creative works regularly and is currently the coordinator of fine arts/associate professor of art teaching printmaking in the Department of Art & Design at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.
Artist Bio
Nancy Steele-Makasci earned a MFA in Printmaking from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, as well as, a MA in Art and a BA in Art Education from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She was an exchange student at the University of Urbino in Italy and the Catholic University of Eichstaett in Germany. She has taught printmaking and drawing at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Kutztown University in Pennsylvania. She currently lives in Orem, Utah and teaches all levels of Printmaking in the Department of Art & Visual Communications at Utah Valley University.
