Professional and Scholarly Integrity Training Requirement
Completion of a training program in professional and scholarly integrity is a new
graduation requirement for all doctoral students admitted into their program in fall
2012 or later and for all masters students admitted to their program in fall 2013
or later. The training, at a minimum, must cover these four topical areas:
- Research misconduct;
- Publication practices and responsible authorship;
- Conflict of interest and commitment; and
- Ethical issues in data acquisition, management, sharing and ownership.
Programs may add additional areas of needed training. The Graduate School expects that students will complete this training requirement by the end of their first year of graduate study at Wichita State University. Programs will submit a Plan for Providing Professional and Scholarly Integrity Training form to declare how students will meet this requirement for that program. Programs can require students to complete coursework, or CITI modules, or other types of training, or a combination of all of these options to meet the PSIT requirement.
It is the program responsibility to monitor the completion of this requirement, and notify the Graduate School when students have completed the requirement. This can be done by recording the information on the plan of study, by submitting a completion form for each individual student, or by sending a list of all of the students who have met the requirement. Once completion notification is received, the information is recorded in Banner and pulled into the Degree Works audit as complete.
For programs that choose to use only CITI modules, please review the information on the CITI page.
