CHP Master classroom touch panels upgraded and video conference PTZ cameras added

The master classrooms 110, 110A, 208, 214, 200, and 201 in Ahlberg Hall have been upgraded with a new touch panel user interface aimed at providing more flexibility and control of classroom presentation. The layout of the screen provides podium, projector, laptop, computer, video and audio controls that will allow presenter to create the appropriate setup for their presentation. One notable upgrade is quicker access to get help through remote support during class by simply calling the help line x3588.

The master classrooms now also have a video conference PTZ (pan, tilt, and zoom) camera that can be quickly controlled from the touch panel using the programmed camera presets. You will be able to use the PTZ camera with the lapel microphone to record your Zoom, Teams or Panopto lectures. This camera can only connect to the room's PC so it will not work with laptops.

Other upgrades in these classrooms include:

  • Professional Blu-Ray Players

  • Fully HD Document Cameras

  • USB-C inputs added
  • Faculty desk has dual monitors

It is highly recommended that you view this guide to get full details about these classroom upgrades.

Keeping workstations powered on

Contrary to popular belief and practice, the Office of Technology Services (OTS) and WSU Information Technology Services (ITS) recommend computers remain powered on at all times, including weekends and university breaks. This helps ensure each workstation receives timely Windows and Microsoft Office updates from WSU’s Software Center, reduces login times, and minimizes stress on the computer’s hardware.

Poster printer no longer available

The College of Health Professions Office of Technology Services (OTS) no longer provides poster printing services. Please submit print orders to Shocker Printing Solutions.

Desktop saving caution

It is not uncommon for users to save documents to their local computer's desktop, documents, downloads, etc. But did you know that none of these locations are backed up? If your computer crashes, needs replaced, or needs wiped, your files will be lost. It is always the best practice to save files to your network share drives, e.g., personal, departmental, or college shares.

Copier no longer in student lab

There is no longer a copy machine for student access in Ahlberg Hall.A scanner is available if students would like to scan and print a document. A copy machine is available for students in Ablah Library.
