Authorized Early Withdrawal
Students who plan to exit the U.S. before completing their academic program must notify
the International Education office. With proper notification and completion of the
required form, the student’s SEVIS record will be terminated for the positive reason,
“Authorized Early Withdrawal (AEW).” Termination of the SEVIS record for AEW should
not have an adverse effect on the student’s ability to return for a future semester.
Students planning to exit the U.S. mid-semester may not drop their classes prior
to discussing their situation with an international student advisor and submitting
the AEW form. We strongly advise you to email iss@wichita.edu or call 316-978-3232 to schedule an appointment with an advisor to review your plan
for withdrawal and departure.
Dropping below a full course load of study before receiving authorization from an
advisor at International Education is a violation of status and will result in termination
of the student’s SEVIS record for the negative reason, “Unauthorized Withdrawal.”
Termination, for this reason, may cause difficulty when attempting to return to the
U.S. in the future.
A student who will exit the U.S. at the end of the current term and does not plan
to return for a future term may submit the Authorized Early Withdrawal form in person at the Garvey International Center or by email to iss@wichita.edu. PLEASE REVIEW THE FORM CAREFULLY – ONCE THE FORM IS SUBMITTED, THE STUDENT WILL HAVE
15 DAYS TO EXIT THE U.S.
