Wichita State is the only school in Kansas to offer a comprehensive college of fine arts, bringing together all the visual and performing arts within one college. From the chance to train with legends to the countless opportunities to dazzle audiences within the state's center of arts and culture, our students have everything they need to succeed.
Facilities
With seven buildings dedicated solely to the arts, Wichita State's campus is an ideal habitat for artists — dotted with sculptures, theaters, labs and studios, and filled with on-campus opportunities for students to showcase their talent. Off campus, students enjoy access to the state's largest ready-made audience in galleries, on stages and at events across the metro area.
- Wichita State's Ulrich Museum of Art is home to more than 6,000 works of modern and contemporary art.
- The campus boasts one of the largest — with more than 70 works — and most renowned outdoor sculpture collections of its kind.
- Wichita State's new Shocker Studios space provides everything students need to hone their craft in animation, audio production, game design and filmmaking.
Real-world experience
One of the many advantages of a Wichita State education is the ability to get hands-on experience while still in school. With more than 500 performances and presentations each year — including the new Shocker Sound Machine indoor marching band — our fine arts students have unmatched opportunities to train and work with professionals in their discipline.
They also showcase their talent in Wichita's galleries, professional theatre, area schools and local ad agencies. The Shocker Career Accelerator serves as an additional powerful resource to help students with resume and interview prep, internship and post-graduation placements, and all else needed to transition into the workforce. wichita.edu/appliedlearning
