Coaching Staff Announces First Players on 2017-2018 Selected Team

WICHITA, Kan. – The first members of the 2017-2018 selected teams were chosen by the coaching staff. Seven ladies and eight men were pre-selected and placed directly on the selected team for 2017-2018.

Six men are returning from last year’s Intercollegiate Team Championships third place team.

The returning men who received direct placement are:

  • Bradley Crouse – sophomore – Nazareth, Penn.
  • Enzo Hernandez – junior – Manila, Philippines
  • Jerod Hromek – sophomore – Wichita, Kan.
  • Wesley Low – junior – Palmdale, Calif.
  • Thomas Peters – senior – Belleville, Ill.
  • Doug Wagner – senior – Moorhead, Minn.

The two new players to be directly placed are:

  • Briley Haugh – Faribault High School – Faribault, Minn.
  • Cortez Schenck – Arizona College Prep – Scottsdale, Ariz.

Six ladies who were part of the 2016-2017 team return for the 2017-2018 season. The Lady Shocks will add one freshman right away to the pre-selected team as well.

The six returning team members who have been selected are:

  • Sydney Brummett – senior – Fort Wayne, Ind.
  • Estefania Cobo – junior – Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico
  • Hollyann Johansen – senior – Wichita, Kan.
  • Sierra Kanemoto – senior – Dayton, Ohio
  • Kayla Ovesny – junior – Norman, Okla.
  • Brooke Woodard – junior – Keller, Texas

The incoming freshman player granted direct placement is:

  • Sierra Ciesiolka – Harker Heights High School – Harker Heights, Texas

Additional men and women may be added to the selected team upon completion of the tryout process in September. In addition to the selected team, all of the 2017-2018 developmental team members for the Shockers will be selected after the annual three week tryout period, scheduled for late August through early September 2017.
