and has since been active in real estate development and investments. He has worked
as an

In the mid 1970s, Clark and a few friends formed a company to develop and operate

Pizza restaurants in the Southeast. With over 70 stores, the company became the largest
franchisee
east of the Mississippi and was taken public in 1983.
Clark began building self-storage properties in 1979, ultimately becoming one of the
top 10
operators in the nation. He currently owns and operates 71 facilities in 11 states

rental units.
Clark holds the professional designations of CRE (Counselor of Real Estate) given

real estate.
Throughout the 70’s and 80’s, he conducted seminars on the economics of real estate
investing,

Service
Award, and in 1985 named him Kansas Realtor of the Year. For over 10 years, he served
as a
National Director for the National Association of Realtors, and on the Board of Directors
of the
Kansas Association of Realtors.
In 1990, he was instrumental in completing funding for Wichita State University’s
Chair of Real
Estate and Land Use Economics, now an endowed chair named the Stephen L. Clark Chair
in Real
Estate and Land Use Economics. He also personally established a charitable annuity
