Overview

Dr. Larisa V. Genin serves as the Dean of the W. Frank Barton School of Business and Professor of Marketing at Wichita State University (WSU). The Barton School of Business serves as a hub for real and applied learning, where students apply knowledge gained from faculty and business leaders while developing both professional and life skills. Recognized among the top 1% of business schools worldwide for its double AACSB accreditation in business and accounting, it is housed in the new $60 million, 125,000 square-foot award-winning Woolsey Hall, standing as a cornerstone for challenging yet supportive educational opportunities. Woolsey Hall features remarkable artwork, sculptures, gardens, and The Promise Bridge—a 300-foot-long pedestrian bridge over the water in front of the building.

Before joining WSU in 2019, Dr. Genin held roles as Interim Dean and Associate Dean in the School of Economics and Business Administration at Saint Mary’s College of California. With over twenty-five years of combined teaching and administrative experience in higher education, she is dedicated to transforming student lives. Dr. Genin has a successful track record in strategic planning, AACSB accreditation, enrollment management, curriculum development, immersive student experiences, faculty and staff development, alumni engagement, external relations, and fundraising. She is committed to building high-performing teams and fostering a culture of happiness and joy by empowering, energizing, and advancing faculty, staff, and stakeholders through leveraging their talents and strengths.

Dr. Genin completed fellowships with the American Council on Education (ACE) and UC Berkeley’s Executive Leadership Academy, both focused on developing the next generation of future higher education leaders. She serves on the ACE Council of Fellows Professional Development Committee and is a member of the IWF Northern California Forum.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Dr. Genin enjoys traveling with family and friends, reading, fine dining, appreciating the performing arts, and cherishing time with her husband, son, their charming Havanese dog named Tango, and cheerful cockatiel named Sammy.
