Overview

James Harris is a dedicated and driven game designer and instructor with a strong focus on the interaction between gameplay, systems, and players. Graduating with a BFA and MFA in game development from the Savannah College of Art and Design, he developed his skills for game design, alongside developing game system tests and projects. While he has a well-rounded game skillset, game programming, system design, and general gameplay are James's focus in game development.

As an educator, he has instructed and worked with students from all facets of game development, while primarily teaching Unreal Engine and gameplay programming. He started teaching game in 2022, then began assisting with syllabi and course development for introductory game development and system courses before joining the WSU team. While he not only enjoys teaching different levels of game design, he continues his developmental research into alternatives for Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment that focus on each unique player's playstyle. As an educator, James strives to inspire students to develop unique, fun, and creative works.
