Phil Black serves as Assistant Professor of Tuba at Wichita State University and is principal tubist with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra and Wichita Brass Quintet. He has held the position of principal tuba with the Flint Symphony Orchestra, Galliard Brass Ensemble, New Mexico Symphony, and New Mexico Brass Quintet, substitute tubist with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and was tuba instructor with the Flint Institute and at the University of New Mexico. Mr. Black has recorded with the Galliard Brass Quintet on the Music Heritage Society label and has performed numerous recitals at regional and national Tuba conferences.

Phil Black received his Bachelor of Music from Ball State University and his Master's of Music from the University Of New Mexico.
