In September 2019, the Department of Labor (DOL) announced changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) with which employers must comply by the effective date of January 1, 2020. As mandated by federal law, Wichita State University (University) must implement the new regulations which change the salary test threshold from $23,660 ($455/week) to $35,568 ($684/week). The University appreciates that a change of this nature may cause some concern and has worked to minimize any negative impacts as much as possible for our employees while still allowing us to comply with the new rule.
