Teaching is a Craft

At the Office of Instructional Resources we take the position that teaching is a craft, not a "talent." That means that anyone can learn how to teach, and anyone can improve their teaching skills through experience, practice, and education. In a university setting, there is a wide diversity of teaching styles, and OIR works to support you in the type of teacher YOU want to be. We don't offer cookie-cutter advice in an effort to create standardized experiences. Instead, we work to get you the information you need to improve on the skills you want to develop.

For some specific advice and training, click on "Section Menu" above, and be sure to have a look at our monthly newsletter, Teaching Today. If you would like to subscribe to the newsletter, send an email to OIR@wichita.edu.
