The WSU recycle program was established in 1992, after a number of faculty, staff and students approached President Warren Armstrong with a strong interest in starting a recycling program.

Today, recycling at WSU has expanded to more than 41 convenient indoor and outdoor stations, and has grown to include the recycling of special materials, like wood, tires and even motor oil.
