Wayne Carlise

 

  • Wayne served as the Director of Placement and Career Services for eight years. Colleagues say Carlisle managed a multitude of tasks each day with intelligence, warmth, courage, and humor.
  • During his career at Wichita State he helped to bring thousands of students and alumni together with prospective employers.
  • Carlisle also was founding member of the WSU Research Group on Women and Work. Since 1985 he helped collect, analyze and present data on two comprehensive surveys of working women.
  • In 1990, the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) presented him with the Fred Turner Award for service, one of the organization’s most prestigious awards.
  • Mr. Carlisle earned the respect of his peers not only for his professional success, but also for the courageous battle he waged against cancer. That fight led to his retirement on Dec. 4th, with him passing on Dec. 17th, 1991.
