Currently the Arkansas River is lowered to rebuild a bridge.


Join Shocker Rowing for an evening full of fun alongside the downtown Arkansas River with S’mores and Oars from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug.26. The event is available at no additional charge with a Shocker ID and $10 for anyone without a Shocker ID.

Boats and Bikes will provide yard games, s'mores, ergometer lessons and other fun activities. There will also be opportunities to tour the aquatic facility and learn all about Shocker Rowing. Make sure to take a moment and enter onsite, the S'mores & Oars drawing for a prize.

Getting to the River Vista Boathouse by Bus from Wichita State

No car? No problem.

  1. Hop on Wichita Transit Route 21 (W.S.U.) from the Wichita State campus area. Route 21 connects campus to downtown Wichita.

  2. Ride to the downtown transit center and transfer to the Q-Line (Museum Q), which serves the riverfront and Old Town areas.

  3. Get off near McLean Blvd. and Douglas Ave. From there, it's just a short walk north to the River Vista Boathouse, 150 N. McLean Blvd. 

  4. Follow signs into the River Vista complex, and you'll find the boathouse along the Arkansas River.

Estimated travel time: About 35-45 minutes, depending on connections and wait times.
