Hiring through Internships

Wolters Kluwer, a software solutions company, hired 16 Wichita State University students this fall as interns. During their time with the business, students have had the opportunity to be involved in multiple projects and assignments, learning to implement skills from the classroom in a real-world professional setting.

“It really has been successful and we as a business couldn’t be more excited about the path we are on,” Jennifer Pinon, Director of Customer Service and Excellence, stated about the company’s experience with Shocker participation in their internship program.

Of this group, six interns were offered full-time positions to start when the semester concludes. Pinon said the team is also excited about the possibility of many undergraduate interns returning in the fall to continue their applied learning experience.

“They have all surpassed our expectations!” she enthused. “We will definitely work with each of them to see if they would be interested in returning this fall and will keep them in mind if other full-time roles open over the summer.”

Wolters Kluwer’s experience with their internship program is testament to the fact that applied learning opportunities are often also opportunities to transition from a part-time co-op or internship to full-time employment within the same company when a student graduates.
