Community Service Board

Wichita State University’s Community Service Board is a student organization that works to address issues of public concern through service and active citizenship in the community. Our volunteer events are rewarding experiences that complement students' academic pursuits, allowing them to engage and develop while helping build a more vibrant campus culture that enhances their journey as Shockers.

Alternative Breaks

Alternative Breaks are an immersive way to learn about social and cultural issues throughout communities. Students apply to go on Alternative Break, and once selected must enroll in the Service and Leadership Need course. This experiential course uses an applied learning method of service-learning to explore different communal needs. The class will explore social justice issues related to service through readings, discussions, writing, reorientation service in Wichita and research-based reflection.
