Leadership Development Programs

Student Engagement & Belonging offers a wide variety of experiences for you to enhance your leadership skills and prepare you for whatever your future may bring. Apply your newfound knowledge to a student leader position, internship, or score that first post graduation job.

Leadership program formats vary and include 8-week programs, multi-day institutes, and individual programs. Each program is offered for free to WSU students! Applications are required for participation in all programs.

LEAD Foundations Programs

Emerging Leaders Program

We offer a free classroom style leadership program that immerse you in self-discovery - values, strengths, leadership styles, communication, and more. The knowledge and experience you gain through participating in this program will allow you to articulate your abilities within your groups, networking events, and interviews. Emerging Leaders is one hour of participation per week over a eight week period.

Shocker Leadership Experience Participants

Leadership Launch

Leadership Launch is a 4-day leadership experience at WSU for new Shockers looking to get a head start on their campus engagement experiences and grow their leadership skills before classes begin! Leadership Launch is great for students with any level of leadership experience that are ready to make connections and get involved from day one of their college experience! Participants will not only walk away with the knowledge and tools to apply their unique values, experiences, and leadership styles more effectively but will also earn college credit for attending!

Shocker Leadership Experience (SLE)

The Shocker Leadership Experience (SLE) educates and inspires students on the process of becoming multidimensional leaders by identifying, understanding, enhancing, and developing their personal leadership capabilities. SLE is a five-day, four-night experience designed for novice leaders looking to discover their leadership potential! All transportation, food, lodging, and t-shirt are all included for free.
