Writing Camp

Thank you so much for your interest in Summer Writing Camp at Wichita State University. This program involves reading, writing, fun activities and hands-on materials to strengthen children's literacy skills. 

Who is Writing Camp for?

  • Children who are going into 3rd or 4th grade in Fall 2025.
  • Children who struggle with reading and/or writing skills.
  • Children who do not have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
  • Children who speak English as their first language.

Camp Schedule - Summer 2025

  • Pre-testing
    One pre-testing session for 60 minutes.
  • Regular Camp Sessions
    June 5  - July 17 (NO CAMP on June 19).
    Tuesdays/Thursdays from 9:00 to 10:15 AM for 7 weeks (13 sessions).
  • Post-testing
    One session - 45 minutes required, held on an afternoon directly after the end of camp.

We strongly encourage parents/caregivers to have their child attend all camp sessions. If you anticipate your child will have multiple absences, please contact us about other available programs.

All sessions will be held at the Wichita State University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic.

Cost

No registration fee for 2025, as this is a research study being conducted at WSU.
