Statement from Regents Chair Bill Feuerborn on Wichita State University
Wichita State University President Jay Golden has submitted his resignation to the Kansas Board of Regents. The Board is thankful for his service. We are appreciative of his hard work and dedication to the university and are grateful for his commitment to serving students. We wish him well in all his future endeavors.
Wichita State Provost Rick Muma will serve as acting president while the Board considers options for an interim president. We are thankful that Rick is willing to step into this role.

Wichita State awarded $300,000 grant to address sexual violence on campus
Wichita State University was recently named a recipient of the Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women’s Grant to Reduce Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking on Campus. The award will allocate $100,000 annually for the next three years to address this important issue on campus.
Principle Investigator Marci Young, CAPS Prevention and Outreach Director, worked with the Community Psychology Department and the Prevention Services Advisory Board on the application to bring this funding to campus and reduce gender-based violence in our community.
The program provides a unique opportunity for institutions of higher education to establish multidisciplinary approaches to combat domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking on campuses. These comprehensive efforts are designed to enhance victim services, implement prevention and education programs, and develop and strengthen security and investigation strategies in order to prevent, prosecute, and respond to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
The Campus Program supports activities that develop campus-based coordinated responses which include campus victim services, law enforcement, health care providers, housing officials, administrators, student leaders, faith-based organizations, student organizations, and disciplinary boards, and that enhance victim safety and assistance and hold offenders accountable.

Participate in a UP/USS combined Senate listening discussion
The Unclassified Professional (UP) Senate and University Support Staff (USS) Senates invite you to attend a listening session to discuss the possibility of merging the two Senates to be a unified voice for all university staff. These conversations, which started in 2017, will provide us an opportunity to engage with staff members about the pros and cons of merging the Senates. This is the first step in a semester-long conversation that will culminate in a staff vote and decision in December.
There will be two options for attending a virtual listening session at 9 a.m. today (Monday, Sept. 28) or 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29. A Zoom link will be sent in advance to those who RSVP. If you have questions or are unable to attend and want to send feedback, please contact UP Senate Vice President/President-Elect, Gabriel Fonseca at gabriel.fonseca@wichita.edu.

ITS Procurement Website Launch
We are excited to announce the launch of our new ITS Procurement website.
The goal of this new site is to provide our clients (Faculty / Staff) an easier way to view our standard hardware configurations and end-user software catalog, as well as provide an easier way to make requests for hardware / software quotes and purchases. The ITS Procurement website also provides more information on Who We Are, What We Do, and Our Services. We highly encourage our faculty / staff to visit the ITS Procurement site and submit any requests for computer hardware and software using this process.
Fire alarm testing to occur throughout fall
WSU Fire Safety along with Sandifer Engineering will conduct required annual fire alarm testing in all campus buildings. These tests are important to ensure the fire alarm systems are operating properly.
There is no specific day or time any one building will be tested. These tests could last through the end of November.
On the Innovation Campus, tests will be conducted at the Crash Lab, Law Enforcement Training Center, John Bardo Center, The Flats and The Suites only.
Every effort will be made to minimize disruption to daily business and classes. If the fire alarm does go off, evacuate the building unless directed otherwise.

Usha Haley, W. Frank Barton Distinguished Chair in International Business has a research interest in the agriculture sector, and food creation. While researching Michelin star chefs' creativity and its evolution, Usha was interviewed by CNN on how she thought restaurants around the world, and particularly, high-end buffets, a peculiarly American cultural icon, would react to COVID.

Panhellenic Sorority on-campus advisor needed
One of our five Panhellenic sororities is searching for an on-campus advisor! Student Organization advisors assist our chapters with administrative responsibilities, share knowledge of campus resources, and provide support to the organization's 80-100 members. Advisors must be full time faculty or staff members. Alumnae membership in any Panhellenic sorority is a preferred qualification.

Lock your car doors and protect your belongings
Wichita State police report that multiple cars have had things taken where students park late at night. All of those cars had been left unlocked.
Please lock your car doors, hide your belongings, put them in the trunk, or take your belongings with you.
These tips will help to reduce your vulnerability to theft. WSU PD is working to reduce and prevent crime and ask for your help in these efforts.

Registration open for third annual 3MT competition
It's time for the third annual Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition at Wichita State. This year's event will be virtual. The website has been updated to assist students with the new format. Please encourage graduate students to participate in this world-wide event, which is part of the Graduate School's Professional Development Series.
There are many benefits with participating in this event, including the more obvious benefit of working on soft skills, that is targeted with the oral presentation. There is also tremendous benefit in honing the ability to distill a research elevator pitch. As the name suggests, they only have three minutes to summarize their research. Participants have until Oct. 5 to sign up, and those who register will need to submit their videos by Oct. 26.
Elements Multi-Media Art Competition exhibit submissions are now open
Elements is a juried multi-media art competition that students may submit works in the areas of painting, drawing, printmaking, mixed-media and ceramics. The panel of jurors, comprised of Wichita and surrounding community artists, select a Best of Show as well as first and second place winners in each division.
Students wishing to participate may submit up to six pieces in any of the five categories offered. Submissions close Wednesday, October 14. Show Opens Monday, November 9 Monetary prizes are awarded to winners in all categories including an Audience Choice Award.
