- Dr. Namboodiri in conjunction with Dr. Aravinthan and other faculty will offer EE 877B Smart Grid Applications in Spring 2013. This is multi-disciplinary class involving students and faculty from various disciplines such as computer and communication networks, power systems, controls, security and privacy, environmental sustainability, and economics.
- Dr. Namboodiri taught a hybrid online class on introductory computer networks CS 736. This class for the first time provided students in both online and in-class formats.

Dr. Namboodiri taught an introductory networking class CS 736 online in Fall 2011. This was the first time the course was taught online and had an enrollment of 104 students. After all if computer networking students can't handle an online class, who can!

First course on Smart Grids at Wichita State offered in Spring 2012. Listed as EE 877B this course will be co-taught by Dr. Visvakumar Aravinthan and Dr. Vinod Namboodiri with additional lectures from Dr. Ward Jewell and Dr. Edwin Sawan. Being one of the such first inter-disciplinary course offered in the Smart Grid area even at a national level, a short paper on the effort has been written which is also part of a panel discussion "Collaborative Education for Smart Grids" at the IEEE PES General Meeting in July 2012.
