BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science & Technology) inspires and motivates high school students to pursue degrees and careers in engineering, science and technology through participation in a sports-like contest. The Kansas BEST competition, hosted by the Wichita State University College of Engineering, challenges students to build a remote-controlled robot using only specific competition kit materials within a eight-week period. Teams must design, build, and test a robot that can outperform their competitors. Professional engineers and teachers volunteer to coach middle and high school teams through the engineering design process.
