Brief Bio:
I joined the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department in August 2011 as an Assistant Professor. I received my Bachelors and Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in 2002 and 2004 respectively and MS and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Wichita State University in 2006 and 2010 respectively. Prior to joining Wichita State University I was a faculty member at Clemson University for one year. I am a senior member of IEEE and currently serving as the chair of the electric vehicle working group within IEEE-PES renewable technologies subcommittee and the chair of the Task Force on Reliability Consideration in Emerging Cyber-Physical Energy Systems within IEEE-PES Reliability, Risk and Probability Applications Subcommittee.
My present research interests include power distribution reliability analysis, smart grid applications for distribution and transmission, integration of electric vehicles into the power grid and distributed generation.
"It is not so very important for a person to learn facts. For that he does not really need a college. He can learn them from books. The value of an education in a liberal arts college is not the learning of many facts, but the training of the mind to think something that cannot be learned from textbooks."
