The long‚Äêterm goal of this research is to develop a cohesively bonded multifunctional nanocomposite coating system for composite wind turbine blades using functionalized nanoscale inclusions, such as graphene and carbon nanotubes (CNTs), thus maintaining the mechanical strength of the composite blades for a longer period of time. The one‚Äêyear goal of this research is to develop a scale nanocomposite coating system with good physical and physicochemical properties.

Past research investigated coatings made of carbon nanotubes and graphene nanoflakes. Coatings were tested for UV degradation and corrosion.
