Undergraduate Research
What are my expectations for research?
- Biochemistry is extremely fun, but requires thoughtful effort and is very time consuming. This means ~ 10-20 hrs/week part time (during the school year) and ~40 hrs/week full time (Summer). Stipends are available for both.
- Juniors are particularly encouraged to join. This will allow you to build up a project through part-time research during the school year and then full-time research during the Summer. You then have the opportunity to present that research to another institution that you interview at (say for graduate school, or an MD or MD/Ph.D. program).
- You must have worked at least one full semester in my lab to be eligible for Summer stipends.
- You must write up a research summary outlining the project that will be completed. This will require additional reading and research, but I'll help you get started. This will be completed before lab work begins so that you clearly know what your getting in to!
- You must write a clearly written report of your research, experimental results by the end of each semester, and at the end of the Summer.
