Marketing intern at American Diabetes Association

How did the Elliott School prepare you for this internship?

The Elliott School prepared me for this internship by being staffed with, in my opinion, the greatest professors out there. I have been to two others colleges and without the Elliott School’s professors encouraging me and pushing me to work harder, I wouldn't have seen the opportunities available to me.

What are some of the duties and responsibilities at your co-op?

Some of my duties and responsibilities at the ADA are to help create awareness about the organization’s main events, which are Step Out (Fall) and Tour de Cure (Spring). I am a representative for the ADA when it comes to traveling to local businesses and leaving brochures, working health fairs, and even attending Young Professionals of Wichita. I am always working to recruit attendees to our events, meaning that I encourage others to sign up a team (whether that be a walker for Step Out or a rider for Tour de Cure)

What is your favorite part about your job?

My favorite parts about my internship are the people and the real-world experiences. There is so much to learn in the non-profit side of things, a lot of those things are ones that the business-world cannot teach you.
