Hello Shocker Nation!
Allow me to introduce myself! For those of you who do not know me, my name is Lucas Hulett, and I am Director of Athletic Bands at Wichita State University! I am just finishing up my 3rd season here leading the Shocker Sound Machine Marching Band and the Shocker Sound Basketball Band! We are launching a brand new newsletter to keep everyone in our community, University, and school districts here in Wichita and beyond up to date and involved in all of the camps, event schedules, and cool things happening here in our program at WSU!

The Fall 21 Marching Band intent form is now live!! Please follow the link below, fill out the form, and we will get you on the roster and set up for the season! We will send you music and our handbook through email, as well as provide more info for auditions.

Drumline preps for the fall marching semester
We will be holding some pre season meet and play sessions starting Friday May 14 from 6:30- 9:00p. All high school students, incoming college first-years, and current WSU students
are invited to come and participate! Please email Lucas Hulett to RSVP!!
Drumline will continue to meet once a month over the summer Friday, June 11 from 6:00-9:00p and Friday, July 9 from 6:00-9:00p to prepare for August Drum camp (August 2nd-6th).
Shocker Sound Machine Fall Season Band Camp
The 4th season of the Shocker Sound Machine begins this fall, and we are extremely excited for what this new year has to bring! Our show will be announced in our Summer newsletter and clips of our music will be available to listen to on the School of Music website in May.
- Drumline Camp begins on Monday, August 2nd and runs through Friday, August 6th.
- 8:00a - 5:00p - Duerksen Fine Arts Building Amphitheatre
- Freshmen orientation is on Monday, August 9 at 8am. Veterans will join that afternoon after lunch.
- Full band camp will go from Monday, August 9th thru Friday, August 13th.
- 8:00a - 5:00p Duerksen Fine Arts Center (all rehearsal spaces TBD)
- Full schedule for camps will be released in late May.

Shocker Sound Machine Band Camp dates and times
8/2 - 8/6: Drumline camp (Drumline only); 8:00am - 5:00pm
8/6: Leadership and Graduate Assistants retreat (On Campus); 8:00am - 5:00pm
8/9 - 8/13: Full Band (Winds and Drumline); 8:00am - 5:00pm
A detailed day to day itinerary will be released closer to the beginning of camp.
Part placement auditions for winds will be held live Monday, 8/9, during the first morning of full band camp. Music will be made available to participants in July.
