What is Major for a Day?

This day is designed to give you an opportunity to experience life as a WSU student in the School of Performing Arts. The day may include:

  • An informational session
  • A chance to meet the faculty, staff, & professionals in the School of Performing Arts, Advising, & Financial Aid
  • Lunch ($20 registration fee covers the cost of a student lunch)
  • An opportunity to attend a class of your choice in Acting, Dance, Design & Technical Theatre, or Musical Theatre 
  • Performing Arts and campus tour (available by request)
  • Wrap-up to ask your questions
  • A comp ticket to one School of Performing Arts production

Location

Rhatigan Student Center, Wichita State University main campus, Wichita, KS 67260

Parking

Attire

Please wear clothing that’s comfortable, easy to move in, & no flip-flops. 

Lunch

Your $20 registration fee pays for lunch.

8:30 am Check-in
9:00 am Welcome 
9:30 am

Overview of School Degree Concentrations and Opportunities
10:30 am

Students attend a class with current students that gives a greater understanding of performing arts 

Parents/guests attend presentations from Admissions, Financial Aid, & Advising
11:45 am Lunch
1-2:30 pm

All students will attend a class in the area of interest (Acting, Dance, Design & Technical Theatre, or Musical Theatre). 
2:45-3:00 pm Major for a Day Wrap-up with Q&A (optional)
3-4:00 pm Campus Tours (optional & on-going for the hour based on interest)
 

After Major for a Day concludes, audition/interview or portfolio review in the degree acceptance areas. To register for a slot, & find out more information, click here.
