MLS Program Outcomes
The Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) program is a rigorous 17-month comprehensive program that prepares students for careers in medical laboratory sciences. The program has three main outcome measures: external certification, internal graduation, and employment placement. The external certification rates are the percentage of graduates who pass an administered American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) National Board of Certification exam within the first year after graduation. The internal graduation rates reflect the number of students who graduate with their Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences. The employment placement rate is the percentage of graduates who find employment in the field within the first year after graduation. The following table summarizes the three-year percentage rates for each measurable outcome as defined by NAACLS, which is the accreditation agency for MLS programs.
As the table shows, the MLS program has consistently achieved high rates in external certification, internal graduation, and employment placement over the past three years. These rates reflect the quality of the program and the dedication of the faculty and students.
The certification, graduation and employment rates demonstrate that the MLS program provides excellent education and training for its students, preparing them for successful careers in medical laboratory sciences.
