Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences

Medical laboratory scientists play an important role in the healthcare system, providing diagnostic services to determine appropriate treatment options for patients. The MLS program at Wichita State prepares graduates to service all departments of a clinical laboratory.

Our students have full access to labs and facilities, working with their peers and gaining hands-on experience analyzing specimens. The program offers outstanding community support, experience during clinical rotation, above-national-average certification scores and flexible applicant entry points. Graduates may further their education to become specialists in Clinical Microbiology, Clinical Hematology, Clinical Chemistry or Blood Bank.

Medical Laboratory Sciences students win Super Cell Bowl Championship

WSU Medical Laboratory Sciences students are the champions in the fifth season of the Super Cell Bowl 2025, sponsored by American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and Cellavision. This is an educational and extracurricular event that tests the students on their knowledge to correctly identify different types of cell morphology that can be observed in the human blood.
