NIAR’s Advanced Technologies Lab for Aerospace Systems (ATLAS) is a multidisciplinary
R&D lab advancing the aerospace industry toward the Factory of the Future. NIAR ATLAS
provides a neutral, industry-focused environment for industry, government agencies,
and academic partners to develop, demonstrate and validate emerging manufacturing
technologies.
NIAR ATLAS specializes in automated and advanced composite manufacturing, including
automated fiber placement (AFP), automated tape laying, thermoplastic processing,
fiber patch placement, thermoplastic welding and over‑molding—and pairs large‑scale
production equipment with cutting‑edge inspection, testing, simulation and data‑analysis
capabilities to accelerate innovation and reduce manufacturing defects.
