Overview
Emily is a dedicated Higher Education and Student Affairs professional with a focus on assessment, evaluation, and research. With over seven years of research experience and four years in higher education, she am committed to driving data-informed decision-making and translating research and theory into practical applications.
Her approach to assessment goes beyond data. It’s about understanding and valuing people. Emily brings an equity-centered mindset to every project, deeply valuing diversity, equity, and belonging. She is passionate about fostering inclusive environments and ensuring that every voice is heard and respected.

Overview
Teri Hall was born in Sterling, Illinois, and attended Sterling High School. She has the same birthday as Abraham Lincoln and did not have to attend school on her birthday while growing up.
Following high school, Hall studied at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and received a bachelor’s degree in speech communication and public relations (1986). She then attended Western Illinois University and received a master’s degree in college student personnel (1988). Hall received her Ph.D. in higher education administration from Indiana University (1996). She also attended the Management Development Program at Harvard in 2000.
Hall spent several years at Southeast Missouri University where she worked with fraternity and sorority life and Student Affairs research. While there, she helped refine the orientation program for new students as well as developed a Greek system review process and initiated “Greek Life 101,” a six-week educational program for new members.
Following her time at Southeast Missouri University, Hall served as the Associate Director of the Student Activities Office at Indiana University. Later, she was coordinator for the Higher Education and Student Affairs master’s program.
In 1998, Hall began her time at Towson University as the Director of Student Activities and served in various positions before becoming Associate Vice President for Campus Life. While at Towson, Hall brought the LeaderShape Institute to campus, established the New Student Convocation to welcome new students, and re-invigorated the Greek life system.
Throughout her career, Hall has presented on more than 40 occasions for conferences, symposiums and trainings including NASPA, ACPA, and the Interfraternity Institute. Topics of her presentations range from conducting assessments without pain to leveraging learning in leadership opportunities. Hall is passionate about student persistence, student engagement, student culture, assessment and generational analysis to improve practice.
Hall came to Wichita State in January 2017 as the Vice President for Student Affairs. Her more than 30 years of experience in higher education help to guide her as she leads the Division of Student Affairs in creating opportunities and experiences that educate, equip, and empower students.

Overview
Dhristy graduated from Wichita State University with a B.A. in Communication - Integrated Marketing Communication. She has worked with Student Affairs for nearly three years prior to taking the Marketing Coordinator position. She’s been a Student Assistant, Marketing Intern and Student Marketing Manager for the Division of Student Affairs. After graduation, she joined Wichita State University as a full-time employee in January of 2022.
As a Marketing Coordinator, Dhristy develops and manages print and digital content, as well as social media content for the division, maintains branding standards, and provides marketing support to departments within Student Affairs.
Dhristy's areas of interest include social media management, photography, graphic design and videography.

Overview
Alicia Newell currently serves as the assistant vice president of Student Belonging in the Division of Student Affairs, with over 15 years of experience in higher education. She oversees several areas in Student Affairs, such as Strengths, Assessment, & Staff Experience, Student Outreach Services, Student Conduct & Community Standards, and the Office of Student Accommodations & Testing.
As an alum of Wichita State University, Alicia earned her Bachelor's degree in sociology and criminal justice and her Master's degree in college student personnel from Arkansas Tech University. She is currently working on her Doctorate of Education at Wichita State University. Her past experiences include serving as the director of Student Engagement, director of Engineering Student Success Center & Academic Advising, director of Multicultural Affairs, Student Conduct & Community Standards, and Enrollment Services.
She is an active member in the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), serving on the Orientation, Transition, and Retention Knowledge Community (OTR KC) and as an AVP Cohort Connections Team Member. Her research interests include college student mental health, Latino student persistence, college student belonging, and retention.
Alicia is recognized for developing innovative programs, leading organizational change, and collaborating across institutional boundaries to achieve divisional and institutional goals. As a first-generation college student, woman of color, and single mother, Alicia has dedicated her life to leading efforts which help individuals achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals, particularly, in the communities in which she works and lives.
As chair of the CARE Team, Alicia brings a big heart, a warm personality and a lot of campus knowledge to her work. In her rare free time, Alicia can be found taking her daughter to her myriad sport practices and games and sneezing the entire time.

Overview
Kennedy Rogers serves as the Director of Strengths, Assessment and Staff Experiences for the Division of Student Affairs at Wichita State University. Additionally, she is a certified CliftonStrengths Coach and Facilitator with Gallup Inc. Kennedy serves on multiple campus committees including the University Staff Senate where she served as a Senator, Secretary, and the role of President.
Personal and professional growth has always been a priority and she works to embed development into her work. Her time at WSU over that last five plus years has provided her numerous opportunities to leverage her strengths, areas of expertise, and engage in cross-campus collaboration and student-centered efforts. Prior to joining Shocker Nation in 2017, Kennedy led training and development practices for a national sportswear sales company. Coming from an industry outside of Higher Education, she brought valuable experience to support a vibrant and student-centered environment where students, staff, faculty and administrators are equipped, engaged, and empowered.
Kennedy holds a Bachelor's degree in Organizational Leadership, a Masters in Social Entreprenuership, and is in the process of earning her Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Wichita State University. Kennedy has learned through her Strengths journey to leverage each of her talents to be effective and reach her goals. She leads with Learner as a parent, professional, and individual discovering every day what life holds. This talents often fuels her curiosity and constantly provides the opportunity for new interests to arise. Achiever, Woo and Restorative help her to manage projects, time, and responsibilities while Positivity keeps her smiling along the way. "There is a beautiful story that results from discovering our gifts and an energy of empowerment that emerges once we align and leverage them." This is a hope that she holds for everyone engaging with Strengths; to acknowledge and celebrate their Strengths Story and then use their talents to reach their goals in all aspects of their life.
Personally, Kennedy loves to share stories about her two children, hobbies and life. She always welcomes the opportunity to connect with colleagues on shared experiences, interests, and opportunities to learn or try something new.

The Strengths, Assessment & Staff Experiences (SASE) department provides outreach, programming and support for the following areas in the Division of Student Affairs. The ShockerStrengths Initiative The ShockerStrengths Initiative at Wichita State University strives to create experiential learning opportunities to help students recognize their talents to develop, leverage, and apply them toward their personal, academic, and professional goals. It’s also about learning to appreciate others’ talents and strengths to accomplish goals together. We approach this through a strengths-based approach focusing on the talents, strengths, and assets that students bring with them to their college experience. ShockerGrow The Student Employee experience is an extremely high impact opportunity to foster student development. ShockerGrow is our initiative that focuses on this experience from undergraduate student employees to graduate assistants. SAPRO Assessment & Retention As a core function of our department, our office supports the Division of Student Affairs in assessment and retention efforts. From departmental KPI's and Annual Reports to student event evaluations, our team is able to help and assit with DSA departmental needs and requests.
