Getting Started
If you need accommodations while at Wichita State University, you will be working with the Office of Student Accommodations & Testing (OSAT). Our office ensures that we are efficient in our services to provide accommodations for students in and out of the classroom. We also share resources, education, and other services to design a more welcoming, accessible and inclusive environment.
Requesting Accommodations
The need for academic accommodations are determined by the application process, documentation, and meeting between the student and OSAT staff using the Accessible Information Management (AIM) Student Portal. This is regardless of whether the student has ever used accommodations before, has a recent or older diagnosis, or just wants to learn more about possible academic accommodations. Some accommodations that OSAT may offer include:
- D(d)eaf/Hard of Hearing Services
- Adaptive Technology
- Braille, Screen Readers, Enlarged Print
- Books in Audio or Alternate Format
- Auxiliary Equipment Checkout
- Mobility Services
- Note-taking Services
- Testing Accommodations
- Accessible Event Planning Guide
- Other Accommodations

On-Campus Housing Accommodations
On-campus residence hall accommodations are available for students with disabilities. Adapted housing space is limited and spaces are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis when the completed application and deposits are received. It is the responsibility of the student to register with the Office of Student Accommodations & Testing if special accommodations are needed when applying for housing. Students are encouraged to apply early and notify Housing & Residence Life about the accommodations request. Housing & Residence Life will respond to appropriate and reasonable housing accommodations requests in a timely manner.
