Is the University providing four personal paid leave days?

Yes, four (4) additional days of paid leave are being provided to eligible employees. The days may be used during Winter Break. Employees required to work during the Winter Break will be allowed to use their four (4) Presidential Administrative Days anytime from Monday, December 21, 2026, through January 31, 2027.

What are the dates that the University is closed for the Winter Break?

The University is officially closed from 5 p.m. on Friday, December 18, 2026, to 8 a.m. on Monday, January 4, 2027. 

Who is eligible for the four personal paid leave days?

All benefits-eligible employees who are employed as of December 18, 2026, are eligible for the four additional paid days.

What are the official designated holidays for which employees will be paid during the Winter Break?

There are three (3) officially designated holidays that are paid during the Winter Break this year, which are Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.  Christmas Eve is observed on Thursday, December 24, 2026.  Christmas Day is observed on Friday, December 25, 2026, and New Year's Day is observed on Friday, January 1, 2027.  

Are there any stipulations on whether eligible employees receive holiday pay?

An employee who is eligible for holiday pay must be in full pay status the entire workday before and the entire workday after the holiday to receive holiday pay. Pay status is defined as being paid either accrued leave or regular earnings for the employee’s typical workday. 

Which earn code should be used for the four additional paid leave days on a timesheet or leave report?

Benefit Eligible employees should use the earn code "Additional Personal Days – 2026".
