Background checks are completed for employees (including student employees) and volunteers, per Policy 3.31 Background Checks for Employment. The University uses a third party vendor, Validity Screening Services, to perform criminal history and sex offender background checks. Information regarding the requirement for background checks is found below. Driver’s license checks are processed dependent upon position requirements.
Departments are only notified by Human Resources regarding the results of a background check for employees if the results are flagged. The completion date of background checks are entered into Banner by Human Resources, and can be found in Reporting Services.
Each department pays for background checks for their respective positions.

The H-1B applicant completes Part A of the H-1B Request Form. The applicant sends the H-1B Request Form by email to the hiring department.

A Flexible Work Arrangement may be considered by Leaders when an Employee requests a change to the normal work schedule or location, when a position is conducive to a Flexible Work Arrangement, and in cases where it is mutually agreeable to the Employee and the Leader. Examples of Flexible Work Arrangements offered by the University are: Compressed Work Week, Flextime. Job Sharing, Reduced-Time Work, or Remote Work.

Employees who wish to request leave for family, medical, or personal reasons, should complete the form below and return to HR at least 30 days prior to the first date of requested leave, when such leave is reasonably foreseeable, otherwise leave must be requested as soon as possible.

Employees can lacate their State of Kansas (SHaRP) employee ID through myWSU. Once in myWSU, select the Faculty/Staff tab, scroll down a little and find the SHaRP ID box in the middle of the page, and then hover over the blank box to display your SHaRP ID.
