Written Remarks

Each year, employees are notified by the University that they have met the qualifications of meeting the qualifications to be inducted into the Bender of Twigs order. Bender of Twigs was founded by former WSU President Harry Corbin (1949-1963) and is unique to WSU.  It is a special designation awarded to those who have dedicated 25 years of service to Wichita State University.

Example: Bender of Twig profile

In true Bender of Twigs tradition, each inductee is asked to:

  1. provide a high-resolution portrait of themselves, and
  2. select one person to provide written remarks about them and their service to Wichita State University.
    • Inductees should submit the name and contact information of the person selected and the Service Recognition team manages communication and arrangement of the written remarks on behalf of the honoree.
    • The person selected to provide the written remarks may be anyone (mentors, colleagues, family, friends, etc.).  This person is not required to attend the event.   These comments will not be read aloud.  Comments will only be displayed online and as a printed framed document at the Service Recognition event.

Written remarks should be less than one-page in length in order to fit into an 8x11 document.

Written remarks may be submitted by using the online form located at wichita.edu/BOTforms or emailed to ServiceRecognition@wichita.edu

The University integrates these portraits and written remarks into a framed document which is displayed and the Bender of Twigs induction ceremony, then given to the Bender of Twig inductee as a memento of their service to Wichita State.   This document is also available and posted online at wichita.edu/BenderOfTwigs.
