The Purpose

Through the support of Cargill, Wichita Collective Impact aligns the work of organizations to support Wichita Public School's strategic goals, specifically kindergarten readiness and 3rd grade reading proficiency, to increase education attainment and economic prosperity in the 67214 zip code.

Quarter 1 Luncheon Recap

  • Gil Alvarez, Deputy Superintendent of Wichita Public Schools, provided updates on the district's progress in kindergarten readiness and third-grade reading.
  • Nigel Soria, Research Economist & Data Scientist at the PPMC, provided insights into the impact of summer programming and reading improvement.
  • The Greater Wichita YMCA recognized several community organizations for their participation in capacity-building workshops.

Every Student Future Ready. The WPS Strategic Plan 2018-2025

  • By 2025, the high school graduation rate will increase from 74% to 80%.
  • By 2025, the third grade reading state assessment score for proficiency levels three and four will increase from 21.93% to 44%.
  • By 2025, 70% of seniors will graduate with a diploma and one or more market value assets.
  • By 2025, an approval rate of 90% or higher from staff, students, and parents will be achieved and maintained in all safety categories.
