Event Coordination Support

The Public Policy and Management Center is looking for a student worker (undergraduate or graduate) to support event coordination. This student will work with PPMC staff to complete:

Pre-event Tasks

  • Coordinating with the host, guests, and speakers
  • Preparing nametags, swag, and other materials
  • Setting up the location

Day-of-event Support

The PPMC organizes many annual and one-time events/conferences for clients across the state including (but not limited to):

  • The Kansas County Clerks and Election Officials Association
  • The City Clerks and Municipal Finance Officers Association
  • The Kansas Department of Commerce

The ideal candidate for this position is proactive, organized, and a collaborative team player. This role is a good opportunity for students interested in developing their event coordination skills.

More Details

Pay:

  • Undergraduate - $13.25/hr
  • Graduate - $15.50/hr

Hours:

  • 20 hours/week
  • Flexible scheduling based on student's availability
  • Spring 2024 semester required event dates are set and will be discussed at interview
  • Work within general office hours: Monday - Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM

Start:

  • Start date: ASAP
  • Term: Spring 2024 Academic Semester with the potential of renewal in summer/fall

Public Safety Projects Support

The Public Policy and Management Center is looking for a part-time student worker (undergraduate or graduate) to support our public safety communications projects. The PPMC works with fire and EMS departments, dispatch services, and other public safety-based clients across the state to complete:

  • Fire department promotional assessments
  • Fire and EMS department strategic plans
  • Organizational assessments

The student workers will provide support by:

  • Attending regular meetings to take notes
  • Coordinating project logistics
  • Conducting research on a range of industry best practices

This role is a good opportunity for students interested in developing project management skills and content knowledge about emergency communications.

Pay:

  • Undergraduate - $13.25/hr
  • Graduate - $15.50/hr

Hours:

  • 10 hours/week
  • Flexible scheduling based on student's availability
  • 8 required dates
  • Work within general office hours: Monday - Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM

Start:

  • Start date: ASAP
  • Term: Spring 2024 Academic Semester with the potential of renewal in summer/fall
