SLC Student Positions
The Shocker Learning Center proudly offers applied learning experiences for WSU students with the following positions: appointment based tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, and/or as a student assistant for the SLC space. Please read the description and requirements for the position you are applying for before completing the application below. General Description of Position
This student leadership position supports the mission of the Shocker Learning Center by providing excellent customer service, and promoting student success, collaborative learning, and academic excellence.
Compensation: $11/hour
Hours: 5-10 hours/week
If you are asked to work additional hours outside of your agreed schedule, you will
be reimbursed.
Functions
- Provide one-on-one tutoring using collaborative learning strategies
- Support student success and make referrals when appropriate.
Required Criteria
- Current WSU student
- Earned at least a B+ in tutored courses
- Good academic and judicial standing
- Excellent communication skills
Preferred Criteria
- Second-semester Freshman through Graduate standing
- 2.75 GPA
Primary Activities
- Conduct scheduled tutoring appointments.
- Teach study skills and learning strategies.
- Maintain appointment records.
- Participate in training and meetings.
- Market tutoring services.
- Complete administrative tasks on time.
Secondary Activities
- Accept additional appointments when approved.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory / Reporting Relationships
- Reports directly to an assigned Senior Tutor.
- Receives coaching, observations, mentoring, and performance feedback from the Senior Tutor.
- Supports expectations established by the Tutor Coordinator and professional staff.

be reimbursed.
Functions
- Facilitate peer-assisted learning for assigned course(s).
- Support student retention and success.
Required Criteria
- Current WSU student
- Earned an A in assigned course
- Good academic/judicial standing
- Excellent communication
Preferred Criteria
- Freshman through Graduate standing
- 2.75 GPA
Primary Activities
- Attend every class and all SI sessions
- Conduct 2-3 weekly SI sessions
- Prepare session plans and marketing
- Meet weekly with assigned Senior SI Leader and faculty member
- Submit planning sheets and attendance
- Participate in all training
Secondary Activities
- Additional review sessions as approved
- Other duties as assigned
Supervisory / Reporting Relationships
- Reports directly to an assigned Senior SI Leader.
- Receives coaching, observations, and performance feedback from the Senior SI Leader.
- Supports program expectations established by the SI Coordinator and professional staff.
General Description of Position

by providing excellent customer service and maintaining an engaging learning environment.
Compensation: $11/hour
Hours: 5-15 hours/week
If you are asked to work additional hours outside of your agreed schedule, you will
be reimbursed.
Functions
- Provide front desk customer service.
- Support daily operations of the Shocker Learning Center.
- Connect students with campus resources.
Required Criteria
- Current WSU student
- Good academic and judicial standing
- Excellent communication skills
- Professional and ethical conduct
Preferred Criteria
- Freshman through Graduate standing
- 2.75 GPA
Primary Activities
- Staff the front desk.
- Complete daily operational tasks.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Participate in training and meetings.
- Complete assigned administrative duties.
- Meet weekly with a Senior STA.
Secondary Activities
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory / Reporting Relationships
- Reports directly to an assigned Senior STA.
- Receives coaching, mentoring, observations, and performance feedback from the Senior STA.
- Supports expectations established by the STA Coordinator and professional staff.
