Study Hours

An expectation for college classes is that a student should expect to study two to three hours per week, outside of class, for each credit hour spent in class.

Therefore, a student taking 12 credit hours should expect to spend 24 to 36 hours each week studying outside of class. Combined with time spent in class, this works out to a total of 36 to 48 hours of academic work per week.

Establishing positive study habits at the beginning of your college career is important to ensure success throughout your time at Wichita State.

Make and maintain a study schedule.

Studying is an important part of academic success. Though, it's sometimes hard to find time to study.

One way to ensure successful studying is to create a study schedule. By prioritizing the items you need to study for, you also have to juggle other responsibilities such as family, friends, and extracurricular activities.
