Celebration Notes

The Alma Mater

1. Our Alma Mater, Wichita,
Stands proudly on the hill,
Our sons and daughters bow to thee,
Our hearts with praise we fill.

Then hail our Alma Mater!
Hail thee, grand and true,
Long wave the yellow and the black
Oh Wichita, here's to you!

2. Around our lives are memories
That tenderly entwine,
And through the midst of rolling years
Of thee we build a shrine.

Then hail our Alma Mater!
Hail thee, grand and true,
Long wave the yellow and the black
Oh Wichita, here's to you!

3. Thy call to all that life holds dear
Is a clear and constant guide,
With love and truth and loyalty
And may they e'er abide.

Then hail our Alma Mater!
Hail thee, grand and true,
Long wave the yellow and the black
Oh Wichita, here's to you!

Recognition List

Students included in this celebration program are candidates for degrees in May or August 2020.

Students' names are listed as they appear on the graduation list provided by the Office of the Registrar.

Graduation with Honors

Degrees are conferred with distinction upon undergraduate students who have shown exceptional scholarship in both their cumulative and WSU grade point averages. Students with grade point averages of 3.90 out of a possible 4.00 receive the summa cum laude award; those with averages of 3.550 to 3.899 receive the magna cum laude; and those with averages of 3.250 to 3.549 receive the cum laude. Candidates for degrees and for university honors for May and August 2020 have been tentatively determined on the basis of work completed through fall 2019. In addition to university honors, departmental honors are awarded to students who have met the appropriate requirements. Wichita State does not confer honors upon students completing degrees in the Graduate School.
