May 4, 2011 — By WSU News Services — Three Wichita State University faculty members have been selected to help lead Freshman Orientation in summer 2011. Each has been awarded a stipend of $4,000 for their work. This initiative, funded by the provost’s office, is part of WSU’s efforts to increase retention and graduation rates.

May 11, 2011 — By WSU News Services — Wichita State University Provost Gary L. Miller was named chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington Tuesday, May 3. In his new role, beginning by July 1, he will be responsible for leading a campus with 13,000 students and 900 faculty members.

Patrick Harms has been selected for the 2011 Yale Organ Week in New Haven, Conn. Harms, a freshman, will have the opportunity to learn from renowned organists while rehearsing, studying and performing at Yale University. Yale Organ Week takes place June 12-18.

May 23, 2011 — By Anthony Marrone — Patrick Harms, a freshman at Wichita State, was chosen to participate in Yale Organ Week. The program accepts a small number of undergraduate organ students from across the country to gather on the Yale campus, learn from some of the nation’s top artists, receive daily lessons, participate in workshops and perform in the evenings.
