Deborah Beat, Military Education Specialist
Deborah is a proud U.S. Navy Veteran and Shocker Alumni. She served during Desert
Storm and returned home to finish her education at Wichita State University. Having
earned a Master’s in Sociology she went on to work as a Children’s Program Director,
Sociology Instructor, and a substitute teacher. While teaching elementary science
for USD 259 she received the Good Apple Award. Returning to her alma mater as a sociology
instructor in 2011, she had the privilege of teaching at both the WSU satellite campuses
in Maize and Derby, as well as, WSU main campus. Deb has spent the last 25 years
actively engaged in education as an elementary teacher, college instructor, homeschool
parent of three all while married to a full-time Kansas Air National Guardsman. In
her down time, she enjoys reading and gardening. Though her true love lies in socializing
whether it is entertaining in her home or attending live theater, music or sporting
events with friends and family.
