FAFSA: Unable to Provide Parent Information
On your FAFSA, you answered that your parent will not provide their information to complete the FAFSA and you do not have an Unusual Circumstance.
When students are dependent as a result of their personal circumstances and their parents' decline to provide their information to complete the FAFSA, the student can be considered for a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan.
The Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan is not based on financial need, and the government
does not subsidize this loan. As a result, you are responsible for all interest that
accrues during school, grace periods, and deferment periods. You may choose to make
interest payments while in school or capitalize the interest (add it to your loan
principal) until repayment.
By not providing parent information, you will not be considered for need-based financial aid, including subsidized loans, scholarships, and federal/state grants. Your financial aid eligibility will be reviewed for an unsubsidized loan only and based on your grade level for the academic year.
Grade Level | Annual Loan Limit for Dependent Students |
---|---|
Freshman | $5,500 |
Sophomore | $6,500 |
Junior | $7,500 |
Senior | $7,500 |
