FS-01.02 – Servicing of State Vehicles

Purpose
To maintain all university‑assigned state vehicles in safe, reliable operating condition and ensure compliance with state and institutional maintenance standards.

Policy Statement
Departments with state‑assigned vehicles used for university business are responsible for ensuring vehicles receive regular and documented maintenance. Vehicles must remain in optimal mechanical condition under sound fleet‑management practices.

Implementation

  • Departments must record and submit yearly odometer readings to the Automotive Maintenance Department for all tagged vehicles.
  • Any vehicle traveling more than a 50‑mile radius from campus must undergo a pre‑trip inspection and approval by Automotive Maintenance.
  • All state‑assigned departmental vehicles will receive at least one comprehensive mechanical inspection annually.
